MRO Chaplains Gathering

Dear Chaplains,

I am thrilled to invite you to our annual MRO Chaplains Gathering, a time set aside for

fellowship and focused learning as we grow together in our ministry. This year’s theme is

‘Yesterday, Today, and Forever!”.

You may recognize these words as being from Hebrews 13:8 as they describe Jesus; His

unchanging nature and consistency. When I think about all of our involvement in motorsports

ministry, I think how in many ways the core deliverable is just as Jesus, the same yesterday,

today, and forever. And what is that core deliverable? Consistently available. Anyone with any

time and involvement in chaplaincy work understands the power in being consistently available

to the community you serve. The doors that open as familiarity and trust develop.

At the same time, we all recognize the reality of human existence and ministry; we personally

cannot do it forever. There comes a time when change is necessary to establish opportunity in

the future. Eventually even Moses dies and Joshua takes the reigns. The question then becomes

“what do we leave behind for the next generation?” Are they going to need to start from scratch

or will they build on a firm foundation we have been used by God to establish.

This year’s Chaplains Gathering will embrace the “amazing and miraculous” of the past, the

needs of today, and cumulative input from all about what is possible and best for the future of

motorsports ministry. As you look through the agenda, I think you will see this year’s focus is

very proactive in ministry tactics, chaplain health, and the building and establishing for future

generations of motorsports chaplains and ministry.

For those who may be considering attending, who have yet to be involved in motorsports

ministry, this year’s gathering is a golden opportunity. You can learn much that will be helpful

if you should decide to pursue a calling in motorsports ministry today while simultaneously

hearing and learning from those highly experienced in this field from “yesterday” and the

corporate vision for what “forever” can be.

I am personally getting very excited about this year’s Gathering. I think the Holy Spirit is

orchestrating something very dynamic and applicable, as always is our Father’s way.
