Virgil and Ann Kilpatrick
MROA Chaplain to: VARA, HSR-West, HMSA, Gen. Racing Ltd, and HSCRS
Virgil and Ann have been married over 13 years. They have 6 children, 4 of them living within 5 miles of their home in Oxnard, California, and 11 grandchildren between them. He’s been a race fan for nearly all his 60+ years and worked as a P.A. announcer at several tracks around the Southwest for almost 20 of those years. God closed the door to his P.A. announcing – only to open another door a few months later. This was an opportunity to be around racers, their families and their cars. God brought Tim Griffin into Virgil’s path, at a banquet in January 2000. Being acquainted with MRO and it’s mission, when Tim asked if Virgil would prayerfully consider coming on board the Association, it didn’t take long to realize, this was “God Ordained,” and he wanted on-board. The organized racing of Vintage cars was something new to Virgil, but certainly not their cars – having watched and read about these cars and their drivers, most of his life. Virgil came to know the Lord, entering into a personal relationship with Him at the age of 40, and knew he wanted to be involved with a ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He completed his Master’s degree in Ministry at a local Bible College and Seminary this past June. As chaplain for many Vintage and Historic racing events, traveling coast to coast, he and Ann are able to minister together. The racing season for 2008, marks their eighth (8th) year with MROA. Life is full, but they wouldn’t want it any other way. To be able to minister to the racing “family,” is not only a “Blessing from God,” but a privilege to serve.
